Black & White 2 (Black & White Studio/Lionhead Studio)
My first published title was Black & White 2 on the PC.
From June 2002 to June 2005, I worked as a Junior Artist for Black & White Studio, a satellite company of Lionhead Studio, whose primary function was to develop the Black & White series of games.
I started out on the project working on the environmental elements of the game, creating buildings, shrines, statues, fountains, seige weapons and ships using 3DStudio Max. I soon was moved onto doing the visual effects.
The visual effects were created using in-house tools, and I not only created the effects for the game but also had the privilege to concept up the miracles and epic spells. The spells were only some of the effects that had to be produced for the game; there were also many environmental, creature and character effects to be done, not to mention the weather system, that included clouds, rain and lightning.
During my final year on the project I was given the opportunity to work on characters. I concepted as well as modelled and textured the archers in Black & White 2, and one of my final tasks was to generate publicity images for the press, giving me a good all-round experience.
